Kara Wolters Bio
Kara is a 1997 UCONN graduate playing 4 years under Coach Geno Auriemma. Won a NCAA Championship in 1995 with a 35-0 record. Member of the 2000 USA Olympic Gold Medal women's basketball team that competed in Australia. Named to the 1997 USA basketball National Team; 1998 USA Basketball University Games Gold Medalist.
Signed with the ABL's New England Blizzard; 1996/97 Naismith Women's Basketball Player of the Year; 1996/97 Margaret Wade Trophy National Player of the Year Finalist; 1995/96 & 1996/97 United States Basketball Writers Association First Team All-American; 1995/96 and 1996/97 Associated Press First Team All-American;1994-1997 NCAA All-Regional Team; 1996/97 Big East Conference Player of the Year;1995/96 & 1996/97 All Big East Conference First Team.
Played 6 years in the WNBA winning a National Championship with the Houston Comets. Also played with the Indian Fever and Sacramento Monarchs in the WNBA.
Played 3 years professionally with the Springfield Spirit of the National Women's Basketball League and named to the NWBL All-Star Team. Played overseas professionally in Italy, France, Korea and China.
This past year Kara was the color commentator for the UCONN women's basketball team on their flagship station WTIC- 1080 AM. She currently is a motivational speaker and marketing representative for companies and groups throughout the country. She has recently gotten married this past fall and resides in Northern Connecticut
